TORONTO, ON – June 30, 2010 –With the help of corporate sponsors, top sports athletes and local celebrities, the Joe Carter Classic Golf Tournament raised over $150,000 in support of the Children’s Aid Foundation yesterday.

“As a father of three kids, I feel very strongly about helping youth and children in need,” says Joe Carter. ”I am overwhelmed by the incredible team of people and sponsors who came together, and helped support the great work carried out by Children’s Aid Foundation.”

Participants included Charles Barkley, Jerome Bettis, Ray Bourque and Bo Jackson, as well as corporate sponsors, such as TD Bank and BlackBerry.

“We are grateful to the athletes, celebrities and sponsors, and especially to Joe Carter for making this event happen,” said Len Gamache, President, Children’s Aid Foundation. “With this generous donation we’ll be able to help thousands of vulnerable children and youth across Canada.”

Highlights of the event included a celebrity autograph signing, silent auction, and celebrity shoot-out contest. “Momentum continues to build for this event. We’re really excited about doing something even bigger and better next year,” says James Dodds, Event Co-Chair.
